Over 15 local non-profit organizations and charities will attend the second annual Community Service Fair at Kennedy HS. Students can obtain information and speak to representatives about opportunities.

Long Island Cares
Description: Long Island Cares Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank has been providing food community outreach and support services to Long Islanders in need since 1980. In the past two years they have embarked on a creative initiative to enhance their community outreach services. They have been successful in creating and implementing programs to better service the public and immediate support services. The organization is seeking volunteers to work with the local food pantry.

Walk-Along for Lupus
Description: Support the Lupus Alliance of America LIQ Affiliates many support, financial and educational programs for those living with lupus in the Long Island/Queens area, as well as support novel research into the cause and cure of lupus. The walk is 3.5 miles.

Purple Heart Pups
Description: Purple Heart Pups is a fundraiser established by Merrick Lions Club to help disabled veterans lead successful and independent lives by raising the money needed to provide them with access to service dogs and other supportive programs.

Spooky Walk
Description: Volunteers are needed to decorate and “haunt” the woods at The Center for Science in Rockville Centre for two nights. It would be wonderful if some students wanted to volunteer to be our “chief haunters,” a fun opportunity to help us with this fund raising event. We are looking for about 15 students for each night. Students can volunteer for one or two nights. A light dinner will be provided.
